Sir Jim Ratcliffe has sent an email to Manchester United staff members calling on them to improve on the tidiness around Carrington and Old Trafford.

The IT department and the academy changing rooms were particular concerns for the INEOS co-founder,

To get United back to the top of football, Ratcliffe has made several changes to the club’s hierarchy with the introduction of Sir Dave Brailsford, Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox. Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth is expected to arrive once he is removed from gardening leave.

The Daily Mail quotes Ratcliffe’s email to staff, saying: “I had a good two-day visit to both Carrington and Old Trafford this week. As ever I was made to feel very welcome. Thank you.

“I had a good tour around some of the facilities. I am afraid I was struck in many places by a high degree of untidiness. In particular the IT department which frankly was a disgrace and the dressing rooms of the U18 and U21 were not much better.

“These standards would not come close to what we would expect at INEOS and we are a chemical company. Manchester United is an elite sporting organisation.

“It’s a small thing in many ways but unless an organisation has standards and discipline it will not succeed.”

The email goes on to add: “I would be grateful in future if we adopt the proper standards of housekeeping everywhere. It reflects poorly on the club if we have visitors, young player parents, new players and the media and they see we don’t care enough to keep things shipshape.”

It’s not the best sign that staff have leaked emails to the Daily Mail, but I suspect they will be looking to get to the bottom of that in the future. Especially when it comes to more serious matters than tidiness at Old Trafford.

It doesn’t surprise us that the Glazers have left things slip after how they’ve left Old Trafford go over the past 18 years. A lot of these issues fall of the American leeches who still remain at our football club.
