Liverpool and Chelsea have previously been credited with interest in the Norwegian midfielder, whilst Brighton and Newcastle United are also in pursuit.

Despite Paul Heckingbottom wanting to keep hold of the midfield ace over the next couple of days, cashflow problems at Sheffield United could pave the way to a sale.

Berge has 19 Championship appearances to his name this season, scoring four times and providing a further three assists, all whilst proving that he can operate as a number eight, a number six or slightly more advanced.

Three of our writers here at FLW have shared their thoughts regarding Berge and whether or not he would be a good fit at Fulham…

Berge is of higher-level ability and deserves to be plying his trade in England’s top-flight and I have no reservations about whether he could handle Premier League football once more.

Someone who provides midfield versatility, excellent technical ability, athleticism and a great understanding of the game, he would be a fantastic addition at Craven Cottage.

At 24 years of age, he is worth every penny that Sheffield United value him at and could prove to be an excellent bit of business as other Premier League outfits circle.

A move that has the potential to reap high rewards, this would represent an excellent coup if Fulham are able to win the race, as there are some big-hitters still associated with the Norwegian international.

Berge would be a great signing for Fulham.

He has long been linked with a move back to the Premier League and it would be a coup for the Cottagers if they can land his signature, particularly with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle United reportedly keen.

Berge has already proven himself to be capable of playing in the top flight and still just 24, he represents an excellent long-term option with a significant sell-on value should he perform well at Craven Cottage.

While there is not an obvious need for the Cottagers to recruit a midfielder, Berge would be an upgrade on many of their existing options and could form an exciting partnership with Joao Palhinha.

This is one Fulham should definitely pursue and at the reported fee, it could look something of a bargain in the years to come.

George Dagless

It’s a signing that ticks lots of boxes for Fulham.

Berge is undoubtedly a player of Premier League level and is one that would grace many a side in the division with poise and panache.

I think he’d get into most teams in the top flight and I think he’d improve Fulham’s midfield nicely, with them playing some great stuff under Marco Silva already.

He’s a fine player and one that would be great to watch back in the top flight, and Sheffield United would undoubtedly miss him if he did move on before this window shuts.
