Sheffield Wednesday have enjoyed a lot of success with their loan signings this year.

The January arrivals of Ike Ugbo, Ian Poveda, and James Beadle have helped to breathe life into Wednesday's survival hopes and despite a four-game winless run, they are still in contention to stave off relegation, with just two points separating them from 21st-placed Plymouth Argyle.

Whilst Ugbo and Poveda have provided creativity and goals to the side, Beadle has excelled in goal, but one area that you feel Danny Rohl would love to revitalise is the midfield.

Barry Bannan has continued to play a pivotal role for Wednesday, but at 35 he is showing signs of slowing down.

Wednesday need fresh legs in the middle of the park, and one player they could look at is 18-year-old Crystal Palace midfielder David Ozoh.

Palace view the teenager as a potential first-team player in years to come and have already handed him his senior debut. They will, however, surely be keen to give him more consistent game time to acclimatise to the physicality of men's football.

Wednesday can offer Ozoh this, whilst taking on another supremely talented youngster in their ranks, and they've shown they have the right environment in which to nurture young players like Brighton's goalkeeper Beadle.

Ozoh ready to make the step up to senior football

Born in Valencia, Spain, the England youth international has risen through the ranks at Palace.

His strong presence and composure have seen his progress accelerated, and he became the Eagles' youngest-ever debutant at the age of 17 years, eight months, 15 days when he came on against Newcastle last season.

Ozoh was awarded Crystal Palace U21s Player of the Season last year and has gone on to make 11 appearances for Palace's first team this season, owing to the maturity he has shown at such a young age.

A tall and skillful midfielder, he was originally an attacker before dropping back into an all-action midfield role.

Ozoh prides himself on quickly recovering possession and playing the ball through the lines, with his incisive passing adding a technical edge to his game that allows him to dominate the midfield.

Ozoh will take time to adapt

At just 18 years of age, Ozoh's progression won't be linear and there will be frailties in his game that are exposed by the harsh realities of senior football.

The role he would be asked to play should he join Wednesday is very much dependent on where they finish this season.

Should the Owls secure safety, they will likely face another season battling relegation and Ozoh will be tasked with breaking up play and disrupting attacks.

But if they are relegated back to League One, Wednesday will no doubt fancy themselves to push for promotion and his ability to play as part of a ball-dominant side will be tested.

Hopes are high for Ozoh, but he is still vastly inexperienced and will not necessarily take to senior football seamlessly. Under Rohl, Wednesday are looking to play a more progressive brand of football, and this will appeal to Palace should they look for clubs to send the teenager next season.

The South London club may prefer to keep him at Selhurst Park but it feels the right time for a loan move and the Owls should be asking the question in a bid to revitalise their midfield.
