Sheffield United are subject of a takeover once more. According to Alan Nixon, an American group is in talks with the club’s owner over an imminent deal.

The report suggests United’s current owner, Prince Abdullah, is wanting a bid of at least £100 million to sell the Blades after their relegation to the Championship. While the American group are expected to make a bid slightly less than that target price.

It has been well known that Prince Abdullah has been looking to sell the club for several months now. However, the previous two businessmen that negotiated with the Blades turned out to be improper in regards to their businesses and proposed wealth.

The big question is: if the American group are serious about this takeover then everyone involved must act fast; any club subject to a takeover often get put under a transfer embargo by their current board, which of course would be tragic if it was to occur in the midst of the summer transfer window.

The Blades will undergo a hefty rebuild this summer in which they will likely bring in around 13 or 14 players to bulk out their squad. But, if this potential takeover drags on it could restrict the club from signing players as the ownerships future remains in the balance.
