Sheffield United, Stoke City and West Brom may all yet be left disappointed in their efforts to land a striker from a Premier League club, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
The transfer window is heating up as the start of the season looms large on the horizon and clubs still have business to do.
Sheffield United, Stoke and West Brom are all looking to add to their firepower before the window slams shut.
And all three are eyeing a move to take Leicester City striker Tom Cannon, which could be an expensive deal and cost substantial wages if he moves on loan.
Leicester though have not yet decided whether to even let Cannon leave and they may decide they want to hold on to him.
Steve Cooper is preparing for a season back in the Premier League for the Foxes and he may take the view he wants as much attacking depth as possible.
Cannon saw injury interrupt his season at Leicester last term and only made 13 Championship outings.
He also struggled to win over Enzo Maresca when fit, but now a new manager is at the Foxes helm in the shape of Cooper.
