Peterborough United left-back Harrison Burrows has been one of the standout players in League One this season, contributing offensively and defensively to great effect for his promotion-chasing side, whilst also winning the the third tier Player of the Season Award.

Burrows has been remarkable for Peterborough United this season - despite playing as a defender, the 22-year-old has contributed six goals and 14 assists to a Posh attack that has scored a league-high 86 goals.

The Murrow-born man has also played a part in his team's defensive efforts this season, despite being a very attack-minded full-back.

He averages one interception, 2.1 tackles, 1.8 clearances, and 6.3 ball recoveries per game, according to statistics from Sofascore. Burrows' Sofascore average rating of 7.42 is the fourth highest of any player in the third division.

The left-back joined the academy of his local team Peterborough, at the age of six, where he has remained since.

He made his Posh debut in August 2019 and has played a variety of positions for the team before setting in at left-back. The homegrown talent has shown maturity beyond his years to become the captain of his team at just 22 years old this term.

Burrows won the first silverware of his career this season. His brace in the Bristol Street Motors's Trophy final was enough to defeat Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 at Wembley Stadium.

The 22-year-old's season has certainly not gone unnoticed. He won the League One Player of the Season Award, before scooping three trophies in Peterborough's end-of-season awards, including the Men’s Moment of the Season Award for his added-time cup final heroics. His signature could be in high demand this summer, and several clubs could benefit from his services

Sheffield United's left-backs have struggled this season

One club that should be looking at Harrison Burrows is Sheffield United.

The Blades have struggled hugely in the Premier League this season and sit at rock bottom of the table after winning just three of their 33 matches. Their relegation to the Championship is not officially confirmed yet, but is now looking all the more likely to be a certainty.

The South Yorkshire outfit have suffered a series of humiliating defeats this season. They lost 8-0 at home to Newcastle United, 6-0 to Arsenal, and have lost 5-0 on four different occasions; they went through a period of conceding a shocking 16 goals at Bramall Lane in three consecutive games.

One of the areas of most concern for manager Chris Wilder must be at left wing-back. Nobody at the club has managed more than 10 matches in the position, with a whopping seven players trying their luck on the left side of defence, and none of them have excelled in the position.

Harrison Burrows would be a clear upgrade from the Blades' current options at left-back, and they must target him in the summer after their inevitable relegation to the Championship - and they should have the money to strike a deal for the dynamo.

Interest has already been shown in Harrison Burrows

If Sheffield United are to make a move for the 20-year-old in the summer transfer window, they must act fast, as multiple clubs have already shown an interest in Burrows.

According to the Peterborough Telegraph, one Championship club had an offer rejected for him in January and four more inquired about the player.

Peterborough United are guaranteed a spot in the League One play-offs in May, but if they don't achieve promotion to the Championship, their ability to keep Burrows at the club will be greatly diminished.

Posh must prepare for a big summer in which many more clubs are likely to show an interest in their left-back after his incredible season.
