Sheffield United confirm their transfer embargo has been lifted

Sheffield United have confirmed that the transfer embargo imposed upon the club in January by the English Football League has been lifted with immediate effect.

The Championship club were sanctioned by the EFL over failures to keep up with transfer payments owed to a pair of other clubs.

In the wake of the news, the club issued the following statement.

“Sheffield United acknowledges that the sanctions imposed relating to EFL regulation 52.2.3 have been lifted with immediate effect.

“As previously stated, the board of directors would like to assure supporters that promotion to the Premier League remains the primary objective this season and will continue to support Paul Heckingbottom and the team.”

While they have promotion back to the Premier League in their sights, the Blades’ attention will now turn towards an FA Cup semi-final showdown with Manchester City this weekend.
