Sheffield United complete loan deal for Everton's Mason Holgate

Sheffield United have completed a loan deal for Everton defender Mason Holgate until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old’s loan at Southampton has been terminated to allow his new temporary switch to take place.

Holgate had struggled for minutes with Saints, making just five Championship appearances to date this campaign.

Having made 149 appearances for the Toffees since his debut in the 2016/17 campaign, Holgate fell out of favour last season under Sean Dyche and will be hoping the switch to Bramall Lane can reignite his career.

He becomes Sheffield United’s third signing of the window after Ben Brereton Díaz and Ivo Grbić as Chris Wilder looks to perform a great escape with the Blades.
