Wilder's men have built a squad fit for a return to the Premier League and their results so far this season have proved that.

One shining light has been their use of academy products, with Ollie Arblaster, Sydie Peck and Andre Brooks all getting the limelight at Bramall Lane.

But Wilder could strengthen more in October through the free agent market.

We take a look at three players who could be signed on a free to bolster the Blades' ranks.

Daniel Amartey

Potentially on the higher side of the wage bill, but Amartey would be a steal on a free.

The 29-year-old is adaptable and has had a brilliant experience throughout his career, playing at Leciester City for six and a half seasons, and being a part of the squad that won the famous Premier League title.

He provides backup in various positions, including centre-back, right-back and defensive midfield, which could be useful to Wilder if injuries are to increase.

With Ollie Arblaster reportedly still being assessed "week by week", there is no guarantee his return will be a short-term scenario.

Peck has replaced Arblaster in the starting lineup and has so far proved to be a revelation.

Although young, Wilder won't want to risk another potential injury to the upcoming talent he has in his squad. This is where Amartey comes in.

His experience alone warrants a place for him in a higher-end Championship club, and with his adaptability also providing cover in defence, it could be considered to be a great acquisition for the Blades.

Muhamed Besic

A name familiar to Blades fans, Besic could be considered for a second stint at Bramall Lane.

The 32-year-old has played his last three seasons in Hungary with Ferencvaros, but two seasons before this he was playing in Yorkshire under Wilder.

The Bosnian international played 13 times for the Blades on loan from Everton, and although he didn't set his time in Sheffield a light, he will be remembered for his hard-working attitude in the middle of the park.

The experience he's gained in Hungary could make him an interesting buy and provide that hard-working attitude off the bench when called upon.

Similar to Amartey, he provides the back-up needed as a defensive midfielder, to potentially nurture the likes of Peck and other youngsters.

He failed in his time with Everton, but Blades fans could be happy to see his face around Bramall Lane again, especially after impressing in the Championship for Middlesbrough in the past.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh

Another area the Blades could do with is another out-and-out winger. With the young Jesuran Rak-Sakyi their only winger, although Wilder has been playing his attacking midfielders out wide, another option on the flanks could prove useful.

Jahanbaksh can provide exactly that.

The 31-year-old Iranian international was released by Dutch side Feyenoord last summer and could provide some more experience in the young Blades squad.

The Iranian has Premier League experience after he spent three seasons at Brighton & Hove Albion. He only scored four goals in English football, but he can explode at a lower level going by his standards in the Netherlands, having impressive spells at Feyenoord, AZ Alkmaar and Nijmegen.

He has only experienced the Eredivisie and Premier League so far, and just going past his peak years, a move to the Championship could be brilliant for all parties.

The Iranian winger could give some much-needed firepower to Wilder's attack.
