Over the course of his two spells at Fratton Park, the forward managed to find the back of the net on 38 occasions in 127 appearances for the club.

After providing 24 direct goal contributions in all competitions last season, Marquis would have been determined to spearhead a push for promotion in the current campaign.

However, a drop off in performance levels by the forward resulted in him falling out of favour with Pompey head coach Danny Cowley.

Having only managed to score four goals in 19 league appearances for Portsmouth this season, Marquis will now be hoping to step up to the mark for his new club.

Following the announcement of Marquis’ departure by the club’s Twitter account, plenty of Portsmouth fans reacted to the news on the social media platform.

Here are some of the best responses from the club’s supporters…

Football Insider yesterday suggested that the League One outfit were in advanced talks to sign Tyler Walker from Coventry City on a temporary basis.
