The powers that be at La Liga outfit Sevilla have identified Utrecht star Vasilis Barkas as a potential summer signing.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Andalusia.
The Sevilla brass, it is understood, are on the lookout for reinforcements between the posts with a view to next season.
Close to tying no.1 Örjan Nyland down to fresh terms, the Nervionenses, amid their ongoing financial struggles, are hopeful of moving Marko Dmitrovic on for a fee.
From here, the intention is then to seek out a replacement backup goalkeeper on the free agent market.
To date, the likes of Wolfsburg standout Kaen Casteels and Middlesbrough’s Seny Dieng have been tipped as potential targets.
As per the aforementioned MD, though, this week, another name has been added to the watchlist at The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.
The player in question? Vasilis Barkas.
Barkas, for his part, is a Greek international, who is currently plying his trade on the books of Eredivisie outfit Utrecht.
With his contract set to expire in the summer, however, the former Celtic man is expected to be on the move, with Sevilla, it would appear, ready to pounce.
