The news comes after the club’s 4-1 loss against Borussia Dortmund at home in the Champions League.

Sevilla have also struggled as of late in LaLiga and currently sit 17th in the table, one point above relegation, with one win, two draws and four losses ultimately leading to the club’s decision.

Lopeteugi’s career however may not be over just yet with the 56-year-old named as the favourite candidate to take over Wolves in the Premier League following Bruno Lage’s departure.

His overall managerial record, which also includes stints at FC Porto, Real Madrid and the Spain national team, is 221 wins, 80 draws and 66 losses in 367 matches.
