On Saturday, Sevilla officially announced that Quique Sanchez Flores would be leaving his position as manager at the end of the season. The option was available to extend the partnership for an extra 12 months, but it has not been activated, meaning that a replacement is required.
According to Relevo, Sevilla have already lined up their leading managerial target – that is Jagoba Arrasate, who will be leaving Osasuna at the end of the season. He is well-liked among bosses at the Andalusian giants, who are prepared to make their move in the coming weeks.
However, Sevilla will face competition for Arrasate’s signature, as Mallorca have him lined up as a replacement for Javier Aguirre, who is also set to leave his post once the final round of fixtures next weekend. Talks between the two parties are said to have advanced in recent days.
It means that Sevilla have time to make up if they are to convince Arrasate to become their manager. It remains to be seen how this one plays out over the next few weeks.
