According to Spanish news outlet Relevo, Bayern Munich approached Sevilla goalkeeper Bono to cover the absence of their first-choice netminder Manuel Neuer.

The German club analysed the market and after watching Bono’s performances with Sevilla, decided to make an approach and sign him as their first-choice goalkeeper.

Bono had an excellent World Cup, along with the rest of his Moroccan team-mates, and helped defeat Luis Enrique’s Spain in a penalty shoot-out in Qatar.

But the Sevilla keeper decided to reject the move to Germany, claiming that he felt at home in the Andalusian city, and that he wanted to help his team-mates out of the difficult situation in which they found themselves.

Just days later, the Bundesliga club announced the signing of Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer from Borussia Monchengladbach.

“They are both very good and Dmitrovic and Bono are going to play. Maybe we have the best goalkeeping pairing in the league,” Sevilla coach José Luis Mendilibar said recently.
