Athletic Club winger Nico Williams is undoubtedly one of the most talented and exciting players in Europe, and there are few sides that would not be keen to have the Basque winger. It looks as if most of the clubs that have the money, and some that don’t, are considering a move for him.
Williams was reportedly a preference of former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez, and has been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Aston Villa in recent months too. The Copa del Rey winger signed a new contract less than a year ago, until 2027, and is believed to have a release clause somewhere close to €60m.
The latest side to show interest, as per Relevo, are Bayern Munich. The Bavarian giants have been considering a move for Dani Olmo, his international teammate who also has a €60m release clause, but his name has been doing the rounds amidst the Bayern recruitment department in recent weeks.
Sporting Director Max Eberl must first seal the new manager at Bayern, which looks as if it will be Vincent Kompany, and a move would no doubt require their blessing. Yet Eberl is keen to form a plan as soon as possible, and Williams is a strong option.
One of the most dangerous and productive wingers in Spain this season, Williams’ pace and dribbling are sufficient to strike fear into any defence, and providing injuries respect him, it looks likely that he will continue to grow. It would be no surprise to see him at any of Europe’s top clubs next season.
