Negotiations between Burnley and Hertha Berlin forward Dodi Lukebakio have stalled, according to Bild. This has now allowed both Borussia Mönchengladbach and Sevilla to enter the race to sign the Belgian.
Lukebakio (25) arrived in the UK to finalise a move to Burnley, where he was about to sign a four-year contract until 2027. However, as further reported by Patrick Berger, Lukebakio’s move to the newly-promoted Premier League side is on the verge of collapsing with the player not 100% convinced by the proposal.
Burnley had offered €13m including bonuses to sign Lukebakio.
Sacha Tavolieri further adds that 777 Partners, who have shares in both Hertha and Sevilla, could help facilitate a move.
The 25-year-old was a standout performer for Hertha Berlin last season despite their relegation. Lukebakio scored 11 and created four in 32 Bundesliga games, but his goal contributions were unable to prevent Hertha from finishing bottom of the Bundesliga on 29 points.
An arrival in Germany in 2018, Lukebakio has scored 35 and created 23 in 144 Bundesliga games at Fortuna Dusseldorf, Wolfsburg and Hertha Berlin.
