The Serie A season has been a captivating watch so far.
With plenty of activity at the top and the newly-promoted sides punching above their weight, the campaign has produced plenty of thrills and spills.
And we’ve put together the standout XI of the season up to this point.
Others may have pulled off more spectacular heroics but Silvestri has been consistent and so reliable this season, doing his job superbly week after week and rightly rewarded with an Italy call-up.
Runner-up: Alessio Cragno (Cagliari)
The champions may not be in top gear yet but one man who was shone for them down the right for much of the campaign is the classy Colombian.
Runner-up: Achraf Hakimi (Inter)
Little was expected of the 22-year-old after arriving at Roma in January having failed to break into the Atalanta side but he has now established himself as a cornerstone of the Giallorossi defence with his steely outings.
Runner-up: Danilo (Juventus)
It took a mid-December injury to finally take the ever-present out of the Aquile side and although they haven’t been as consistent as last season, Acerbi remains a pillar of strength and solidity at centre-back.
Runner-up: Vlad Chiriches (Sassuolo)
Be it defensively or going forward in particular, the former Real Madrid man has just picked up where he left off last season, continuing his scintillating form.
Runner-up: Robin Gosens (Atalanta)
After a difficult first season at Napoli, this season has been child’s play for Chucky, who has exploded into life under Gennaro Gattuso and proving crucial whether it be from the start or coming off the bench.
Runner-up: Hakan Calhanoglu
This season, we’re seeing the player everyone expected when Locatelli broke through at Milan, exuding calm on the ball, shining with his ability out of possession and proving himself as one of the league’s best and most diverse passers.
Runner-up: Nicolò Barella (Inter)
Roma have been quietly excellent so far this season and Mkhitaryan has been at the centre of much of it, with his seven goals and six assists telling only part of the story.
Runner-up: Rodrigo De Paul (Udinese)
It is a shame it has all gone wrong for Papu after being crowned the league’s player of the month for September, thanks to four goals and two assists that month. We just hope if he does leave La Dea, he stays in Italy.
Runner-up: Mattia Zaccagni (Verona)
He’s 39, has suffered from COVID-19 and two different injuries this season and the unstoppable Swede has still managed 10 goals and an assist in just six Serie A games!
Runner-up: Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)
In nine starts this season, the Belgian has continued to justify Inter’s massive-money for him last year, grabbing 10 goals and providing two assists. He has firmly established himself as Serie A’s most complete centre forward.
Runner-up: Andrea Belotti (Torino)
