Serie A switch not an option for Real Madrid veteran – Matteo Moretto | OneFootball

Real Madrid veteran Nacho Fernandez has been consistently linked with a move to Serie A since uncertainty blossomed over his contractual situation last year. Once again it looks as if he is set to leave Real Madrid this summer, and Inter have been credited with interest in the 34-year-old.

However Football España have been informed by Matteo Moretto that there is no interest either from the Nerazzurri nor Nacho. The Real Madrid captain intends to leave Europe this summer, with Major League Soccer and the United States his preferred destination. While Inter may look for a defender this summer, they are yet to work out what finances are available, and Nacho is not on their shortlist.

The veteran centre-back has demonstrated in the Champions League this season that he can still cut it at the top level, but it appears he is looking for a change of pace. Last season it also looked as if he would exit at the end of his contract, before he made a U-turn with just two weeks to go. With a win over Borussia Dortmund, Nacho has the chance to go out on a high, lifting the Liga and Champions League trophies to bring to an end 12 years in the first team at Real Madrid.
