Napoli recorded their first Serie A win of the season in Thursday’s clash with relegation rivals Pomigliano. Elsewhere, Valentina Giacinti registered a hat-trick to lead Roma to a comfortable 3-0 win over Sassuolo.

Roma 3-0 Sassuolo

Giacinti scored two goals inside the opening 11 minutes to get Roma off to a dream start against Sassuolo. First, the Italy international sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from the penalty spot. The 30-year-old then fired into the bottom corner after seeing her initial effort blocked. Giacinti went on to wrap up her hat-trick inside the first six minutes of the second half when she drove into the box before calmly slotting past Lia Lonni.

Sampdoria 1-3 AC Milan

The visitors warmed up for Sunday’s Milan derby with an away win over Sampdoria. Milan fell behind in the ninth minute when Stefania Tarenzi swept the ball home from close range. Chanté Dompig pulled Milan level just after the half-hour mark, poking the ball past Amanda Tampieri to register her third goal of the Serie A season.

The away side turned the game completely in their favour inside the opening 15 minutes of the second period. Silvia Rubio squeezed a low effort under Tampieri, before the 23-year-old turned provider for Dompig’s second goal of the contest. The midfielder’s lofted cross was met by the towering Dompig, who guided her header back across goal.

Despite picking up all three points, Milan are guaranteed to be in the bottom half of the table when the league splits after the weekend.

Como 0-1 Fiorentina

Third-placed Fiorentina continued their push for Champions League qualification with a narrow home victory over Como on Wednesday. Verónica Boquete proved to be Fiorentina’s hero, scoring the only goal of the game in the 72nd minute. The Spaniard sent her unstoppable free-kick over the wall and out of the reach of Como goalkeeper Astrid Gilardi.

While the visitors celebrated a third consecutive victory in all competitions, Como were left to reflect on a sixth defeat in their last seven matches.

Inter 0-2 Juventus

Onyi Echegini scored a brace inside the first 15 minutes to lead Juventus to victory in Wednesday’s Derby d’Italia. The Nigeria international opened the scoring with a downward header from Maëlle Garbino’s inviting delivery. The pair combined again for Juventus’ second, with Echegini bundling the ball home after being teed up by Garbino. Juventus ultimately kept Inter at bay for the remainder of the contest to record a third consecutive clean sheet in all competitions.

Napoli 2-0 Pomigliano

Napoli scored two first-half goals to claim the spoils in Thursday’s relegation six-pointer. Miharu Kobayashi’s drilled cross found its way to Eli del Estal, who showed great composure to bring the ball down and fire past Anna James Buhigas to give Napoli the lead just before the half-hour mark. The hosts quickly added a second when Paola Di Marino got the faintest of touches to Gina Chmielinski’s inswinging free-kick.

The hosts ultimately stood firm to record their first league win of the season, which moved them level on six points with Pomigliano.
