Serie A | Juventus 0-0 Genoa: Vlahovic vents frustration

Juventus hit the woodwork twice with Samuel Iling-Junior and Moise Kean in this stalemate with Genoa, but Dusan Vlahovic was sent off for dissent.

The Bianconeri dropped down to third place after one point from two games, but had Vlahovic back from suspension and Adrien Rabiot on the bench after a dislocated toe, though Arkadiusz Milik and Carlos Alcaraz suffered muscular problems. The Grifone missed Aaron Martin, Alan Matturro and banned Stefano Sabelli following back-to-back defeats, but gave Vitinha his first start.

Wojciech Szczesny had to make the first save of the match after seven minutes, pushing away the Mattia Bani glancing header from an Albert Gudmundsson free kick.

At the other end, Federico Gatti was the most effective going forward, his shot from outside the box smothered, then meeting a Filip Kostic assist from 12 yards that was deflected wide.

Federico Chiesa had penalty appeals, but the foul from Djed Spence was outside the area, but Juve finally threatened on 66 minutes when a Samuel Iling-Junior strike from the edge of the area bobbled past Josep Martinez and bounced off the base of the far post.

A Dusan Vlahovic header shaved a coat of paint off the upright from an Andrea Cambiaso cross, then another similar attempt went over the bar.

Juventus hit the woodwork for a second time at the 90th minute, as Moise Kean’s daisy-cutter from the edge of the area on a Kenan Yildiz assist thumped the base of the upright.

Vlahovic let the frustration get the better of him after a foul on the goalkeeper in stoppages and was booked for a furious response to that call. He continued his protests and received a second yellow card moments later, leaving Juventus down to 10 men and meaning he will definitely miss the next match against Lazio.
