Carlos Augusto was decisive for Inter against Como, both with the headed winner and his desperate clearance to prevent the equaliser at San Siro, before a Marcus Thuram rocket.
The Nerazzurri were forced to reshuffle in defence with Matteo Darmian, Benjamin Pavard and Francesco Acerbi out, plus Stefan de Vrij only fit for the bench, so Alessandro Bastoni moved into the centre. Cesc Fabregas missed Maxi Perrone, but Sergi Roberto got his first start since the injury on October 25 and they moved to a three-man defence.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan scuffed wide from a promising position and Nico Paz tested Yann Sommer from distance, but Denzel Dumfries horribly ballooned over from 14 yards on the Mkhitaryan roll across from the right.
Federico Dimarco didn’t get enough power on the finish to surprise Pepe Reina.

Inter took the lead straight after the restart, as Hakan Calhanoglu swept a corner onto the head of Carlos Augusto from six yards.

Carlos Augusto was heroic at the other end too on the hour mark, making a desperate and very risky interception to prevent Edoardo Goldaniga tapping in the Andrea Belotti cross at the back post.
On the resulting flicked on corner, Yann Sommer had to get down and parry the Nico Paz daisy-cutter from 12 yards.
Federico Dimarco stole the ball from Ben Kone on the edge of the area, but Lautaro Martinez was offside when the shot was deflected in off the captain.
Como kept good possession at San Siro in the closing stages, but Patrick Cutrone couldn’t keep his header on target.

Instead, Marcus Thuram surged forward in stoppages and bent back Pepe Reina’s glove at the near top corner with a rocket of a right-foot finish.
