Transfer News: Napoli are planning a swoop for Tottenham Hotspur ace Tanguy Ndombele
has already lost his position in Antonio Conte’s team amid a lack of consistency in his performances. The French international was given a few chances in the last month due to injury issues in our midfield.
But he couldn’t capitalize on them and attracted a fair bit of criticism from the fans when exiting the field after a horrible display against tier-three side Morecambe. It really seems like there is no way back into the starting XI for him now.

Conte recently dropped the midfielder from his starting lineup against Chelsea and hinted that the decision came from a higher authority.
With only nine appearances in the Premier League this season- of which only 6 were starts-, it is increasingly clear that the 25-year-old wouldn’t be getting many chances if he stays at our club.
Napoli have problems of their own regarding Fabian Ruiz. The 25-year-old star is yet to sign an extension with his current contract expiring in 2023 and it is believed that the Spaniard has attracted interest from Manchester United lately. So, Luciano Spalletti’s team would have a void to fill in the centre of the field if Ruiz leaves.

What type of deal would be suited for Tottenham?
We signed Ndombele for a club-record fee of €60million. Seeing his lack of game time coupled with poor performance, it would be a dream scenario if a team meets that valuation so we break even.
On top of that, the French star still has several years left on his contract. That would still put us in a strong position given his deal expires in the summer of 2025, and Fabio Paratici and co would be smart to cut losses as much as possible.
It isn’t clear if Napoli want him on a loan or a permanent deal. But the latter certainly makes more sense for us if Conte and the club’s hierarchy want to see the back of him this month itself.
A loan move would only delay the situation until the summer, when we would have to sit down and sort out Ndombele’s future at the club once again. It’s better to cut our ties with the ex-Lyon man in January itself and not think twice if a sizable offer comes in for him.
