Manchester City are poised to receive an official proposal from Serie A club Como for the services of one of their most exciting central midfield talents.

A decision on the future of highly-rated Maximo Perrone is the latest in a long line of conversations held over the course of the ongoing summer transfer window regarding some of the club’s best youth talents.

Several names have ended their stays with the Premier League champions, whilst others have headed out on temporary moves, including Callum Doyle and his fourth successive loan spell into the Football League by joining Norwich City for the 2024/25 campaign.

Others including James McAtee and Nico O’Reilly have seen Pep Guardiola put the ultimate faith in their abilities, by including them in his first-team plans for the campaign and promising opportunities to showcase their talents at senior level.

Another name who could be on the verge of seeing his Etihad Stadium future decided is Argentine talent Maximo Perrone, having returned to England off the back of a exemplary pre-season tour of the United States with the first-team squad.

But the player’s career at the Etihad Stadium could be coming to an end, despite the promise shown in his outings for Pep Guardiola’s squad Stateside.

According to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, Serie A side Como are set to submit an official bid to Manchester City for 21-year-old Argentina international talent, Máximo Perrone.

The report details that negotiations will initially start over a loan agreement with a buy option included for the end of the spell in 2025, whilst City would require the inclusion of both a buy back and sell-on clause in order to keep future control of Maximo Perrone.

From the viewpoint of Spanish football legend and now Como manager, Cesc Fabregas, the 37-year-old is reportedly confident of getting the green light for the signing of Perrone from this week, with a deal at the final stage.

Maximo Perrone signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Manchester City for a transfer fee of around £8 million in January 2023, joining Pep Guardiola’s side following the conclusion of the 2023 South American under-20 Championship.

In the same season, Perrone would go on to make his senior Premier League debut for the club in a 4–1 away win over AFC Bournemouth, replacing Erling Haaland in the 72nd minute of the February clash.

A loan to Spanish side UD Las Palmas would further showcase Perrone’s abilities, however Manchester City must now feel as though a permanent exit is the best solution for the player’s development, whilst including clauses to remain connected with the midfielder’s future.
