Bologna are now just four points shy of Juventus in third place in the Serie A standings after recording a late, late victory over Empoli at the Castellani Stadium on Friday evening.

Thiago Motta’s side remain in fourth place, and will hold their position regardless of the other results in Serie A over the course of this weekend.

Giovanni Fabbian’s injury time winner against Empoli ensures that the Rossoblu sit six points above Roma in fifth, having played one game more than Daniele De Rossi’s side.

Empoli, meanwhile, are currently lingering just above the Serie A relegation zone in 17th place with 25 points from 29 matches. Both Frosinone and Sassuolo could overtake them and send Empoli back into the drop zone with victories later this weekend.

With a 1-0 result, not too much has changed in terms of the Serie A top scorer charts so far this weekend.

Fabbian got his sixth goal in all competitions on Friday night, which moves him level with Lewis Ferguson in the club’s goalscoring records for 2023-24.

Lautaro Martinez of Inter still leads the division comfortably with 23 goals, five ahead of his closest competitor, Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic.
