Sergio Rico expected to return to PSG training after recovering from a brain aneurysm | OneFootball

According to The Athletic’s Guillermo Rai, Sergio Rico (30) is expected to return to Paris Saint-Germain training in the coming days pending medical clearance. The PSG keeper has recovered from a brain aneurysm and should be able to join his Les Parisiens teammates in training if given the all-clear from medical officials.

The former Fulham goalkeeper suffered a brain injury after he was trampled on by a horse  after returning to his homeland following PSG’s title celebrations in May 2023. This left the 30-year-old hospitalised for several weeks as he recovered from the injuries he sustained in the horse riding accident. In total, Rico spent 36 days in intensive day, including 19 days in a coma.

Rico spent several months recovering in his home in Seville after making his miraculous recovery from the accident.

Ready to return to training

6 months after being released from hospital, Sergio Rico is now preparing to return to PSG training in the coming days. Lucky to be alive, according to medical professionals, the Spaniard’s recovery is almost complete and as long as he is given medical clearance, he should be playing football once again.
