Sevilla defender Sergio Ramos is inching ever closer to the exit door, amid discussions over a summer move to Major League Soccer.

That’s according to The Athletic, who have late on Monday provided an insight into the situation.

Ramos’ future in La Liga has of course long been up in the air.

As much comes with the veteran stopper’s short-term deal with boyhood club Sevilla due to come to a close in the summer.

A renewal has long been deemed as unlikely on the part of both parties, owing largely to the ongoing financial woes at The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.

Ramos, in turn, has been left with little choice but to seek out a new chapter in his legendary career.

And as much, it would appear, is set to come in the United States of America.

As per a report from The Athletic, MLS outfit San Diego FC have reached the point of ‘advanced talks’ with Ramos and his entourage.

This comes with a view to a contract beginning in the summer.

Though an agreement has not yet been finalised, talks are moving firmly in the right direction, with the now-38-year-old in line to fill one of San Diego’s designated player slots.
