Agüero suffered a tear to the meniscus in his left knee in June and had been hoping to return for these Champions League games.

According to the Guardian, Agüero has now all but accepted he won’t be fit in time to feature. The Argentine may still travel to Lisbon but is highly unlikely to feature.

That leaves the onus on Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling to lead the line for the Citizens. The pair scored a goal each last week as City saw off Real Madrid in the round of 16.
