The United States Men’s National Team face Trinidad and Tobago on Monday and it could be an uphill battle after Sergiño Dest lost his head.
The defender held the ball up near the touchline and the linesman eventually flagged the ball had gone out of bounds.
Unimpressed with the decision, the USMNT star then picked up the ball and booted it to the stands picking up his first yellow. But it didn’t stop there.
Dest continued to argue with the referee and despite Gio Reyna, Tim Ream and Matt Turner all yelling at their team-mate to stop, it was too late as a second yellow arrived.
His sending-off immediately changed the game as the hosts equalised minutes later via Reon Moore.
The USA currently have a three-goal lead on aggregate but it will still be a tough task away from home a man down.
Dest will also miss the CONCACAF semi-finals in March with the booking.
