Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma was spotted shouting at one of his Spurs teammates following the half time break.

It was a tough afternoon’s work for the Lilywhites at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Brighton & Hove Albion.

But it seems the recently returned Mali midfielder was doing his best to provide Rodrigo Bentancur with some advice and encouragement.

Bissouma shouts at Bentancur

Having made his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, midfielder Bissouma was not deemed fit enough of a return to the starting XI by Ange Postecoglou.

But this was not to mean he wasn’t trying his best to help his teammates from the touchline with reporter Alasdair Gold spotting an interesting moment between him and Bentancur from the press box.

Taking to X, Gold said: “Yves Bissouma seemed to be giving Rodrigo Bentancur a little pep talk as they emerged together from the tunnel for the second half. He then shouted something seemingly encouraging to the Uruguayan as they went their different ways.”

Ange hooks Bentnancur for Bissouma

It was not too long after this moment when Postecoglou made the decision to introduce Bissouma into the game against his former side.

And it was Bentancur who made way for the returning 27-year-old.

After 62 minutes of action, the £16m Bentancur offered Spurs a fairly quiet display in the middle of the park:

  • 39 Touches
  • 0 Key passes
  • 6x Lost possession
  • 2x Dribbled past

It is worth remembering the Uruguayan has only recently returned from the injury which he picked up in his first start back from the long-term injury last year.

And he has been forced to play his way back to fitness as a result of the absences of Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr.

But it is great to see Bissouma back and pushing his teammates even though he was not awarded a start by the manager.
