Quick to get Argentina’s frustrating World Cup campaign behind him, Sebastián Beccacece signed to take over Defensa y Justicia.
Beccacece had worked under Jorge Sampaoli at six club sides and the Chile national team from 2003 until 2015 before taking a first head coach position at Universidad de Chile.
One year in Chile led to an offer from Argentine club Defenda y Justicia, where Beccacece coached rather successfully until his former mentor called on him to join the national team staff.
While Sampaoli was a target of criticism throughout the tournament, his assistant has appeared to emerge from that fracas unscathed.
In his first stint in charge of the team, Beccacece coached 26 matches between the league, the cup, and Copa Sudamericana. His 17 wins, 3 draws, and 6 loss record portends well for the Falcons this time around.
