Seattle Sounders vs LA Galaxy: Preview, predictions and lineups

Seattle Sounders are all set to take on LA Galaxy in a Western Conference clash Sunday afternoon at Lumen Field.

The Sounders have endured a terrible start to the 2024 MLS season under Brian Schmetzer, who's now under even more pressure to right the ship in the coming weeks. Seattle -- who were Western Conference playoff semifinalists -- have managed just two wins this season and have dealt with injuries to players like new signing Pedro de la Vega, who hasn't been allowed much time to integrate into the side with a hamstring problem.

On the other side of the contest, the Galaxy started their campaign off in red-hot form with wins over Vancouver Whitecaps and the Sounders earlier on in the season. However, a little bit of inconsistency may have crept into Greg Vanney's side as they won twice and lost twice in their last four matches.

Heading into the match, the Sounders currently sit in 12th place in the West with nine points from 10 matches played while LA have collected 18 points from 10 matches played to seat themselves in second place in the division.

Here is 90min's preview of the Sounders vs the Galaxy.

You can expect either Andrew Thomas or Jacob Castro to take his place in between the sticks at the weekend.

Seattle Sounders vs LA Galaxy score prediction

Even though the Galaxy will be favorites heading into this one, it won't be as straightforward as many might think. Without two of their most important players in Joveljic and Puig, the Sounders could very well steal three points at Lumen Field.

However, the Galaxy still have enough quality on the wings and in the midfield to score at least a couple of goals on the night to take a point back to Los Angeles.

Prediction: Seattle Sounders 2-2 LA Galaxy
