The stage was set inside Providence Park as these clubs went head-to-head and the rivalry on the pitch delivered.

Some sluggish defending from the visitors allowed the hosts to break the deadlock and the Timbers fans simply loved it.

A ball over the top from Dario Zuparic was chested down by Jonathan Rodríguez and a striding Felipe Mora tapped home the opener.

However, Portland stepped off the gas as the match continued. It was that decision, and their failure to register more than two shots on target, that influenced the result.

Seattle eventually capitalized on the change in tempo with a goal on either side of the break to turn it all around.

A long-range effort from Cristian Roldan deflected beyond a diving Maxime Crépeau minutes after the opener to draw things level.

Then as Portland continued to struggle with their intensity in the final third, a familiar name won it all for the visitors.

Raúl Ruidíaz found an inch of space just outside the top of the box and netted a perfect curler into the top left corner.

Nobody has more goals against the Timbers than him (13).

The result means Portland are still without a win since March 9 (nine games) and sit bottom of the table.

Seattle, meanwhile, are unbeaten in three games and sit three points above their rivals in 10th.
