Season ends with glory for the Famous Glasgow Rangers

Rangers’ Scottish Cup win today was just reward for a hell of a season.

Sure, it wasn’t the UEL, but it was finally the laying to rest of a ghost which has haunted this club for 13 years, and one which has haunted us for 11 as well.

We finally, at long last, won a domestic cup, making Giovanni van Bronckhorst a tiny missed penalty away from a 100% cup record in his first season at Ibrox.

How do we feel?

Relieved. We had such misgivings about this one, feeling the players were spent, and in truth, they probably were, but they defied it to give the club and fans one last massive effort and push over the line a big final.

Extra time was needed, AGAIN. And we suspect a lot of these players will sleep for a month.

But by goodness they poured their hearts into the last two matches, and while today’s win doesn’t make up for Wednesday, it softens the blow just a wee bit.

If ever a team has earned a prize, it was Rangers today after the marathon epic of a season we’ve had, with its highs and lows, and Hearts certainly played their part in a pretty decent all-round match.

But Rangers finally got their rewards for the effort put in – sure, it’s just the one trophy, but it is one we’ve wanted a long long time.

The players did this for the club, themselves, Gio, Jimmy, Walter, and of course the fans.

It was a fitting end to a hell of a season.
