Taylor Richards has been one of Queens Park Rangers' signings that really haven't worked out this season, and the club could look to cut their losses and move on from him in the summer transfer window.

When the 23-year-old first joined the club at the start of last season, on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, he said that he felt as if he'd come: "home," as per his interview with the club upon joining.

He had been born and grew up in Hammersmith, and attended his first game at Loftus Road when he was seven. It seemed like a perfect fit for the player. But he hasn't lived up to what people hoped he would be.

Louis Moir, Football League World'sQPR fan pundit, has given his thoughts on Richards' time at the club, and what should be done with him.

QPR fan verdict on Taylor Richards

Moir believes that the R's just need to cut ties with the attacking midfielder, and that, if they were to keep him, he can't see how the 23-year-old will get into Marti Cifuentes' side.

He said: "When we signed Richards he looked like he was going to be one of those players where we picked out a hidden gem. But, since he's signed, he's barely played. He's made a couple of sub appearances, and he's been injured a lot.

"When he has played, he hasn't really done anything to warrant him being anywhere near this squad, to be quite honest.

"It's a disappointing one because of the fact that we thought he had tonnes of ability, which he might have, but we just haven't seen it and we may never see it.

"We ended up signing him on a permanent deal, so, on the one hand, you've got a player that you may as well try and get something out of. But even Marti can't seem to get something out of him, if he's ever fit, that is.

"On the other hand, we're thinking 'What's the point in getting rid of him?' I'm thinking more of the former really. What's the point of having a player who is never fit? It seems to me that he might have some problems off the pitch.

"I remember when Gareth Ainsworth was here, I think he reposted or liked something on Twitter (X) which was totally against Ainsworth. Us as fans knew it, but players shouldn't be that stupid to start doing that stuff on social media.

"He was then dropped, or never seen again under Ainsworth, and I think if we can cut ties with him that would be the best decision for the club, because I can't even see him staying fit for one game or getting anywhere near the starting XI."

A clean break between QPR and Taylor RIchards is needed

The 23-year-old is another slightly sad case of a player with a lot of ability who just can't seem to put everything together to make themselves into a great player.

Brighton reportedly paid £2.5 million to Manchester City to get him to join their academy. That's a significant amount for someone that was yet to make a men's debut.

That promise he showed throughout the age groups hasn't translated over to the professional game, and the R's should look to move him on because he's not shown anything to suggest that he is up to the standard.

QPR will have a problem if there aren't many suitors for him, as the attacking midfielder still has two years left on his current deal, after automatically joining the club permanently off the back of his 22/23 loan spell at Loftus Road.

Cifuentes has shown that he can get seemingly sub-par players to perform at a much better level, but Richards isn't one of the players that he has had that effect on.
