Bastian Schweinsteiger spent almost 17 years at FC Bayern, during which he developed into a true club legend. The 2014 World Cup winner ended his active career just under two years ago. Unlike Oliver Kahn or Hasan Salihamidzic, Schweinsteiger is not pushing for a Comeback to the German record champion for the time being.

Schweinsteiger has won almost everything there is to win in club soccer with FC Bayern. In the summer of 2015, the Bayern homegrown and the Munich team parted ways. Whether it will ever come to a Schweini return to the Isar, is currently open. The 37-year-old himself does not really seem to be concerned with it at the moment.

“I follow Bayern very closely”

With Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic, two of Schweinsteiger’s former teammates have now taken on important posts at the record champion. Uli Hoeneß recently made it known that Schweinsteiger also could take such a role in the future. On “BILD TV,” Schweinsteiger ruled out a return to the Bavarians in the near future: “At the moment, that doesn’t appeal to me. I am very happy with my life.” However, he did not want to categorically rule out a comeback at FCB: “Maybe a little later. Of course I follow soccer and I follow Bayern very closely. Never say never. That can change quickly these days.”

Schweinsteiger has been working as a TV expert for the German ARD since 2019 and is still contractually bound until the 2022 World Cup.
