FC Bayern Munich is on the verge of signing Ralf Rangnick. According to consistent media reports, the Munich club is only waiting for the Austrian national team coach’s final confirmation. Allegedly, he already has his eye on potential new signings.

At the moment, there is almost every indication that Ralf Rangnick will succeed Thomas Tuchel in the summer and become FC Bayern’s new coach. Although a final agreement has yet to be reached, only the final details are said to still need to be clarified.

According to the latest reports, the Munich management have even assured the „football professor“ that he will have a say in the transfer. Rangnick will therefore be allowed to play an active role in the upcoming reorganisation of the Bayern squad.

Will Rangnick bring Frenkie De Jong to Munich?

As reported by kicker, Rangnick had already presented his ideas for the future squad to the Bayern bosses at an initial meeting around three weeks ago. It was about „a handful of departures“ as well as possible new additions.

According to the British portal HITC, Rangnick wanted Frenkie de Jong, among others, as the new pace-setter in the centre of midfield. He is said to have already tried to sign the Dutchman during his time at Manchester United.

De Jong is still under contract with FC Barcelona until 2026 and has been repeatedly linked with Bayern in the past. Most recently, Sky also reported that the midfielder was on Bayern’s list.

Frimpong remains a topic at FC Bayern

Winger Jeremie Frimpong is also said to have been on the former United coach’s list at the time. With 24 scoring points in 40 games, the 23-year-old is one of the shooting stars of Leverkusen’s championship-winning team. He has also been a topic at Säbener Straße for some time and would be available for around €40 million in the summer thanks to a release clause.

According to BILD head of football Christian Falk, Munich are „in concrete talks“ with the Frimpong’s management. As the release clause must be exercised before the start of the European Championships, the future of the lightning-quick right-back will be clarified in the coming weeks.

It is clear that there will be departures at right-back in the event of a Frimpong transfer. With Sacha Boey, Noussair Mazraoui and loan returnee Josip Stanisic, there would otherwise be four players in the squad for the same position.
