WAZ have confirmed a report from Football Scotland that newly-promoted Bundesliga side Schalke are interested in signing Christopher Jullien from Celtic.
S04 are yet to reach an agreement with Celtic but are in pole position to sign the 29-year-old French central-defender. Schalke’s interest in Jullien comes with the possibility that Malick Thiaw (20) could leave the club this summer with Milan interested in signing the German youth international.
Jullien joined Celtic in 2019 from Toulouse for around €8m and has played 62 games in all competitions. Although playing the majority of his career in France, Jullien was at Freiburg for three seasons, but spent one of those on loan at Dijon before joining Toulouse in 2016.
Schalke have been active this window, signing Thomas Ouwejan and Rodrigo Zalazar on permanent deals. Sebastian Polter, Tobias Moh and Florent Mollet also join the Royal Blues whilst Tom Krauß (RB Leipzig) and Alexander Schwolow (Hertha Berlin) join the club on loan.
