Maurizio Sarri tries to forget the Supercoppa Italiana and warns Lazio not to ‘be influenced’ by the star names missing for Napoli this evening.

The match kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico at 17.00 GMT.

Both these teams participated in the Supercoppa Italiana Final Four in Riyadh, but while the Aquile were thumped 3-0 by Inter in the semi-final, Napoli beat Fiorentina only to lose the Final to a stoppage-time Lautaro Martinez strike.

“What happened was we ran into Inter during a super night and we were on a bad evening. Those are the consequences,” Sarri told DAZN.

“This is a different tournament, we have been doing well here recently. We wiped the slate clean, there was not much point spending time analysing a game that we basically didn’t play.”

The cards from the Supercoppa pass on to Serie A, so Ciro Immobile and Mattia Zaccagni are suspended against Napoli, with Patric injured. It means to make way for Gustav Isaksen, Felipe Anderson should move over to the left side of the trident attack.

“It does not change much. We always play with a right-footed player on the left, so it changes very little. Felipe looks great in training, he is a very talented player who doesn’t always deliver in a match situation what he ought to, but he remains a potential weapon.”

Napoli have reshuffled too in a 3-5-2 formation, although Sarri believes Walter Mazzarri is planning a few adjustments.

“I think Piotr Zielinski will attack on the left, he did it when I was at Napoli and he did it well too. Napoli are a strong side, they clearly have a different attitude in the last few weeks and we must not let ourselves be influenced by the absences, because they remain a very competitive side.”

Victor Osimhen and Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa are on international duty, with Giovanni Simeone, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Jens Cajuste suspended, plus Natan, Mathias Olivera and Alex Meret injured.
