Just like against Sweden, the Lionesses appeared to be heading out of the tournament during their semi-final with Italy.

Going into stoppage time, Italy held a 1-0 lead after Barbara Bonansea’s 33rd-minute goal.

However, super-sub Michelle Agyemang again came to the rescue to score in the sixth minute of stoppage time to take the game to extra time.

Chloe Kelly, who made a game-changing impact off the bench against Sweden, did so again on Tuesday night, as she scored in the 119th minute to send the Lionesses into their third consecutive final of a major tournament.

What record did Sarina Wiegman break at Euro 2025?

Sarina Wiegman is the first-ever manager in women’s or men’s football to reach five major international tournament finals in a row.

She first reached the final with the Netherlands at Euro 2017, guiding them to their first European Championship trophy on home soil.

The Netherlands under the guidance of Wiegman, then lost 2-0 in the 2019 World Cup final to the United States.

The Dutch manager then switched to become the manager of the English national team in September 2021.

It was just ten months later when she led the Lionesses to their first major international trophy at Euro 2022, thanks to their famous 2-1 win over Germany at Wembley Stadium.

A year later, England reached their first Women’s World Cup final, but fell on the wrong side of a 1-0 defeat to Spain.

At Euro 2025, Wiegman will manage her fifth consecutive major international tournament final, with the Lionesses to face either Germany or Spain.

According to the UK’s top betting sites, Spain are 4/9 favourites to reach the final in 90 minutes, with Germany priced at 4/1.

What did Wiegman say after England’s victory over Italy?

Sarina Wiegman joked that a movie will be made about England’s Euro 2025 campaign after their dramatic win over Italy.

She said: “We’re going to make a movie some day. Well this is a movie, my goodness, it’s unbelievable.

“Here we are again, it’s really, really special. When it finishes like that, I’m enjoying it but it’s a little bit dramatic.”

Wiegman also had special praise for Michelle Agyemang after she scored her second goal at Euro 2025.

The England boss said: “She has something special. She’s only 19 years old, she’s very mature, she knows exactly what she has to do.

“When you talk about little things that she picks up straight away, because she’s not only in the 18-yard box very dangerous but when we have to go to her as a target player, she keeps the ball really well too.

“Even when you saw her shot hit the crossbar, that was not just a shot, she was aiming for it. If she continues like this she has a very bright future.
