Ella Toone admits she is not enjoying the drama after England staged yet another late, dramatic comeback to beat Italy in the semi-final of the Euros.
The Lionesses conceded yet again in the first half, courtesy of a lovely finish from Barbara Bonansea.
But once more, Sarina Wiegman was rescued by the Arsenal duo of Chloe Kelly and Michelle Agyemang, who each scored to fire England through to the final.
With Italy minutes away from being in their first final since 1997, Agyemang struck six minutes into stoppage time to draw the Lionesses level, before Kelly completed the comeback late into extra time, burying the rebound after her initial penalty was saved by Laura Giuliani.
“I’m not about the drama, me,” Toone conceded after the game.
“I prefer to win in 90 minutes. That would be really nice. But I mean, it’s good for all the people watching at home, keeping them on the edge of their seats.
“It’s football and sometimes it’s difficult, but we’ve got players who can come on, change the game and keep us in the game.”
England have completed back-to-back turnarounds after conceding two to Sweden in the quarter-final before coming back to win on penalties, but the Manchester United midfielder praised the team for their determination in finding a way to win.
“There are always people putting us down and writing all this stuff about us,” she said. “But, we’ve got that togetherness in the squad. We know what we’re capable of.
“Not everything is plain sailing in football. It’s finding a way to win and we definitely know how to do that. I prefer to win in 90 minutes, but we’ll take it.”
The Lionesses have four days to recover before facing the winner of the other semi-final between Germany and Spain on Sunday.
When asked how she planned to celebrate with such limited downtime, she responded: “Me and Alessia [Russo] will definitely watch Love Island tonight and chill out.
“I’ve got doping (tests) again, so I’m not best pleased. We’ll see our families, celebrate with them. We’ve put them on some mad emotional rollercoaster this tournament. So, celebrate with them, celebrate with each other.
“We’re going to a final, but then tomorrow is when the work starts. We’ve got to make sure that we recover fast.
“We’ve played back-to-back games where we’ve played 120 minutes. So, it’s been really tough physically and emotionally. We’ve got to enjoy the moments, but make sure that we’re prepared for the final.”
