Sara Holmgaard re-united with twin sister at Everton Women | OneFootball

Sara Holmgaard has returned to Everton following her six-month loan spell with Fortuna Hjørring where she made 16 appearances and scored two goals.

The 23-year-old defender initially joined Everton in August, along with her twin sister, Karen.

She told evertonfc.com: “It feels really nice to finally be at Everton. It was a difficult decision to go on loan, but ultimately the right one.

“Being back home with family and friends was nice and playing with a good team in Fortuna helped build my confidence.”

Holmgaard’s spell in Denmark was the first time in her professional career that she didn’t have her twin sister by her side.

“It was a bit difficult in the beginning,” Holmgaard continued. “But it was also nice to challenge ourselves and have some time apart.

“I know when we’re together that I’m able to achieve more, but I’m glad I was able to push myself when being alone.”
