Brazilian club São Paulo announced on Friday that Dani Alves has left the club.
“We made the decision and communicated to coach Hernan Crespo that Daniel Alves will no longer be available to play for the São Paulo team,” said football director Carlos Belmonte via the club’s social media.
The news comes after an apparent dispute between the player and the club regarding unpaid wages.
Belmonte went on to confirm the 38-year-old did not appear for training on Friday after participating with Brazil in the World Cup qualifiers earlier this week.
During his time with São Paulo, Alves scored nine goals and bagged 14 assists in 95 appearances.
