However, they paid a heavy price with midfielder Santiago Naveda stretchered off early on after an awkward collision with Emanuel Gularte.

The Azulcrema confirmed via social media on Sunday that the 20-year-old suffered a ligament tear in his left ankle that will require surgery and likely keep him out for four months.

“We are sad of course. Naveda was training well, came to play an important role, is a young man who takes hold,” Solari said after the game at the Estadio Azteca.
