Giménez, 23, was withdraw after 30 minutes during Feyenoord's clash with NAC Breda. Whilst the Rotterdam-side managed to win 2-0, the result was overshadowed with concern for their striker who scored 23 Eredivisie goals for the club last season.
Scans after the game revealed that the former Cruz Azul forward suffered an upper leg injury and will be unavailable until 2025. The severity of his injury was revealed by Sports Illustrated.
El Trí are set to face the United States at the Estadio Akron, home of Chivas, on Tuesday 15th October. In November, Javier Aguirre will select a squad fit to participate in the CONCACAF Nations League quarter final, but the official draw is yet to have taken place.
The striker's absence from the national team across the next two squads will raise questions about who will replace him. Fulham striker Raúl Jiménez will be in contention after returning to good form in the Premier League scoring in their most recent fixtures against West Ham United and Newcastle United.
A start could be in store for Club América talisman Henry Martín, who was not chosen by former manager Jaime Lozano for the 2024 Copa América but was reinstated by Aguirre for his first squad since returning to the national team for the matches against New Zealand and Canada.
There is an outside chance the 21-year-old Armando González receives a first call-up to the national team after leading the line for Chivas this season. The striker has three goals to his name this season, despite failing to make an impact in their most recent matches, González is an exciting prospect for the future and Giménez's absence for the next two squads could provide the opportunity for Aguirre to call-up young talent.
