Aston Villa welcomed Stevenage at Villa Park earlier today as they hoped to secure a win in the FA Cup. The Villans made a good start to the game and scored the opening goal in the 33rd minute when Morgan Sanson found the back of the net. Unai Emery’s men managed to get into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.
Leander Dendocker let his teammates down by getting sent off in the 85th minute. Aston Villa conceded the equaliser moments later as Jamie Reid converted his penalty. Dean Campbell scored a dramatic winner in the 90th minute for Stevenage as the Villans suffered a 2-1 defeat at home which knocked them out of the FA Cup.

GK: Robin Olsen – 5.5/10
Olsen didn’t have to do anything for most of the game but ended up conceding two late goals.
RB: Matty Cash – 7/10
Cash didn’t do much wrong at the back and was accurate with his passing.

He made two important interceptions at the back and was good on the ball.
CB: Calum Chambers – 6/10
The English defender was strong in the air and made one good chance in the final third.
Villa Park
LB: Ludwig Augustinsson – 6.5/10
Augustinsson was a solid presence at the back but offered very little in the final third.
CM: Leander Dendoncker – 6/10
Dendoncker was a dominant presence in the air but let his teammates down by getting sent off in the 85th minute.
CM: Douglas Luiz – 7/10
The Brazilian talent engineered some meaningful chances for others around him but failed to register a goal.
CM: Morgan Sanson – 8/10
Sanson caused a few headaches for the Stevenage defenders and deserves credit for scoring the opening goal in the 33rd minute.
RW: Leon Bailey – 6.5/10
Bailey was a constant menace in the final third but lacked quality in front of the opponent’s goal.
ST: Danny Ings – 7/10
He orchestrated some decent chances for his teammates up top. He earned an assist for setting up Sanson’s goal.
LW: Philippe Coutinho – 6.5/10
Coutinho had a lot of strikes at goal but failed to find the back of the net.

CAM: Emiliano Buendia – 6/10
Buendia made one key chance in the opponent’s half.
CM: Jacob Ramsey – 6/10
He added some energy to Unai Emery’s midfield.
RB: Ashley Young – 6/10
Young offered very little after coming off the bench.
ST: Ollie Watkins – 5.5/10
Watkins never got a sniff at goal.
LB: Lucas Digne – 6/10
He struggled to get into the flow of the game.
