The Stadio Giuseppe Meazza will no longer host the 2027 Champions League final after a decision made by the UEFA Executive Committee on Tuesday.

2027 Champions League final no longer in San Siro

The Meazza, commonly referred to as San Siro, had been chosen as the host venue for the 2027 Champions League final back in May, but it could not be guaranteed that the stadium would be fully available in three years’ time.

There is a possibility that San Siro will be impacted by renovation works, which are set to take place before Italy hosts the 2032 European Championships. The redevelopments are likely to take place at some stage after the 2026 Winter Olympics, which the city of Milan is co-hosting.

As the local authorities could not guarantee that the stadium would not be impacted by renovation works in 2027, UEFA have decided to take the hosting rights away from San Siro, and will now re-open the bidding process.

It is expected that a new host venue will be decided upon around May 2025.
