Stoke City midfielder Sam Clucas is set to remain with the club after signing a new contract today, with the Potters confirming the news on their official website.
The 30-year-old has put pen to paper on a new two year deal which keeps him at the Bet365 Stadium until the summer of 2023 and will now be looking to put a summer of transfer speculation about his future behind him.
Clubs such as Sheffield United, Blackburn Rovers, Nottingham Forest and West Brom were all credited with having an interest in the former Hull City and Chesterfield player.
However the versatile playmaker is now set to stay put in Stoke-on-Trent, with his manager Michael O’Neill expressing his delight at the news:
“Sam has been an important player for the club over the past three years and we are delighted that he is committed to us for at least another two years.”

Clucas originally arrived at the club back in the summer of 2018 and has since gone on to notch up 16 goals and 12 assists for the Potters.
His original deal previously only had a year to run, which only served to increase speculation over his future.
The Verdict
This is great news for Stoke City as they have secured a player who has been nothing short of crucial for them over the past few seasons in the Sky Bet Championship.
Clucas has developed into a brilliant all round central midfield player after initially starting out as a winger earlier in his career and has been very influential for the Potters.
It appeared that he could well be tempted to move elsewhere, but clearly O’Neill has managed to convince him that the club are looking to achieve something big moving forwards.
If he can rediscover the type of form which he showcased in the 2019/20 campaign, the Potters could be about to have a very good season.
