Sam Amo-Ameyaw remarked that he joined Strasbourg for playing time which isn't wrong. Yet, it's ironic that bottom-table Southampton couldn't provide him decent minutes but Champions League hopefuls Strasbourg did.

Throughout Europe's top five competitions, the bottom-table teams aren't viewed as a much more appealing squad than the division's title contenders. And there's a simple reason behind that which is their inconsistency to back their rare top-table season finishes.

As a result, elite players often turn them down in transfer markets which leads those outfits to chase promising talents regularly.

Hence, the chances of having a breakthrough season for teenage prospects heavily lies with these teams only. Better put, framing a good playing reputation at a bigger club following a terrible spell at a relatively lower-ranked side speaks next to impossible, right?

Well, then, Southampton's almost permanently sold attacker, Sam Amo-Ameyaw has successfully taken the less-travelled path.

Amo-Ameyaw acknowledged his weird playing career path

Now, any Saints fan would be lying if they concluded that the 18-year-old didn't possess the skill set to thrive at St. Mary's. He did have that wealth of potential in him but what was missing was the playing time on offer.

Surprisingly, Amo-Ameyaw acquired those on-field minutes at Strasbourg who could only afford a minimal margin of error than the Saints. After all, Champions League aspirants can't let their losing run snowball, unlike any relegation-battling unit.

Acknowledging his slightly weird career trajectory, GIVEMESPORT quoted Amo-Ameyaw saying: "No one is ever guaranteed minutes on the pitch, but they were able to present a platform where I can get that opportunity."

Honestly, credit must be given to Amo-Ameyaw for bringing his career back on the rise after a challenging spell away from the club's Premier League schemes.

There aren't many players who recover swiftly when their playing time suffers a dip and Amo-Ameyaw is turning out to be their inspiration in this aspect.
