AS Saint-Étienne are one game away from returning to Ligue 1 after two seasons in the second division after they defeated FC Metz 2-1 in the first leg of their promotion/relegation playoff.
Midseason appointment Olivier Dall’Oglio has managed to turn around the fortunes of ASSE and craft an attractive and expansive team that only narrowly missed out on automatic promotion after they fell to a defeat to US Quevilly-Rouen in the penultimate game of the season.
Despite being the second-division side, Les Verts will not travel to the Stade Municipal Saint-Symphorien with an inferiority complex. They had demonstrated a dominant performance at home against Metz, and as a result, Dall’Oglio will make no changes to the side that won on Thursday evening.
