Saint-Étienne owners deny “firm” offer for club sale | OneFootball

As reported by , Saint-Étienne’s co-owners Bernard Caïazzo and Roland Romeyer have released a statement indicating that they had not received any “firm” offer for the club to be bought out.

A source had told AFP that the period of exclusive negotiations with American businessman David Blitzer had not led to any agreement being found between all of the parties by the end of the 45-day period.

Caïazzo and Romeyer, who have been co-owners of Les Verts for the last 15 years, have been looking to sell the club for the last year. They have indicated that talks are still ongoing with various candidates via audit firm KPMG.

“[…] The shareholders reiterate that their desire to sell the club is definitive and will go through to the end. Their sole concern is the sustainability of the club with an excellent management team […], in order to have a great season on the pitch.”

Saint-Étienne were relegated to Ligue 2 at the end of the season following a play-off defeat to Auxerre, and will start life in the second tier at the end of the month with a trip to Dijon.
